General Information
DP Information:
Each module has DP requirements which are specified in the course handouts for these respective modules. The student must satisfy DP requirements for all modules. DP is based on continuous assessment results, which include timely completion of tutorials/labs, writing the tests, as well as completion of other assignments. A students that shows unsatisfactory performing will be issued a DPR warning; if the student performance is not improved then the student will not be permitted to write the examinations the course and will have a DPR recorded for the course; in such a situation the student will need to repeat the course (or equivalent courses) the next year. This procedure applies for both first and second semester (i.e., a student DPRed for module B will receive a DPR for the whole course even if they complete modules in the second semester. Similarly, a student DPRed in second semester will not be authorised to write exams for any of the second semester module.
Overall mark:
The overall mark for the course is calculated according to the credit weighted sum for the final marks for each module. The calculation for EEE2039W is as follows:

 Total Mark % = (ModB*12 + 8*ModD + 8*ModE + 4*ModF + 4*ModG )/36

A similar calculation is applied for the other mega-courses such as EEE2026S.
Carrying forward marks from previous years:
If you failed the course in a previous year, but passed some of the modules then you can request to carry over course module marks. However, this needs to be approved by the course coordinator in agreement with the particular module lecturer concerned. Furthermore, you can only carry forward marks for modules that you passed (i.e. obtained over 50% and achieved a DP for the module). For example, if you took modules B,D,E,F and G, and you failed overall but passed everything except module B then you would need to negotiate with each lecturer for D,E,F and G to carry forward your mark from last year and you will need to repeat the entirety of module B and also write the exam for it. If you have further queries about this please ask the course convener.
Transcript report code:
You may find various letter codes on your marks report, whether in vula or on your transcript. This is a brief explanation of these in terms of how they apply to EEE2039W:

  • DPR = student received a No Duly Performed rating for a lack of effort put in to the module/course. This means there is no opportunity to try further this year to complete the course implying you would need to re-register and repeat the whole course next year.
  • OS = Out Standing work remaining. There is some sort of assignment / test left to complete, the student can writing the exam but may still fail regardless of the exam result if the outstanding assignment is not completed by a specified time.
  • DE = Deferred Exam permitted. The student has been granted / applied for a deferred exam and has achieve DP or OS.
  • ABS = has DP but was absent for exam. Student will need to apply for a deferred exam or will need to reregister and repeat the course next year.
  • LOA = Leave of Absence
  • 0 = a 0 may just be a mistake because one of the above codes was turned into a 0 in the spreadsheet, but often a 0 is a placeholder to say that a student was absent for or missed an exam/assignment but the excuse was inadequate, could not be replaced with an alternate assessment, or the student didn't apply for a deferred exam.
